“The new identity for the city library of Meyrin, a town near Geneva, Switzerland. The logo is mostly inspired by the concepts of cyclic dynamic, of self improving and personal growth, evolution and all the notion associated with the Ouroboros.
We thought the whole idea of wisdom, renewal, infinite quest of knowlede would fit well for a public library, and we find it very interesting -and fun- to give a contemporary approach to a strong sign used for millenia by most of the civilizations and perpetuate its use.
The symbol also stylise a “b”, first letter of “bibliothèque” (library in french), and in a certain way, an open book.”

This looks great. I wonder what it would look like in mono color?
I am trying to see the ‘open book’ mentioned and just can’t seem to get it. Otherwise, great concept. Typeface works well for something semi-formal like a library.

How does it works in black and white?

Really happy to see our work here ^__^

@Chris & Daniela: We have a “shades of grey” version that works the same, but in grey instead of green.

And also a pure black version for the extreme situations, slightly modified with a small cut to render the volume.

The left top of the symbol “might” be seen as 2 open pages… ;-)

The typeface is the beautiful “Enclave” by Terminal Design.
We used it also for the whole new concept of the library’s internal signage.

You can see pictures of the global project soon on our website.

I’m usually a stickler for logo’s needing to work in single color or black and white, and therefore have predisposition to dislike gradient based logos, however this is certainly and exception that has one me over, I really do love this design, it feels very organic to me.
