Agency: Landor Associates
Designer(s): Jason Little, Tim Warren, Steve Clarke, Mike Staniford
Client: News Limited
Description: In 2007, Rupert Murdoch laid down the challenge for News Limited and its associated global businesses to become carbon neutral by 2010. The challenge was to create a brand that would materially help drive employee, supplier and public action on climate change. One Degree has been developed on a simple premise: that if everyone were to change their behavior by just one degree, we can change the future of the planet. The logo combines both the number and the degree symbol, which together represent a person. In doing so, it neatly encapsulates the real impact that an individual can start to make in addressing climate change.
it’s nice, I like the concept and the execution.
there is also an angle in the 1, angles are calculated in degrees, I think I’m thinking this too much and thats a lot of thinking.
Great work!
Like it, simple and adaptable.
I like it… but I’m sorry, I don’t see anything overly impressive here.
I’m actually quite baffled that it took 4 designers to come up with this.
like it alot, clean and excellent deomonstration of restraint.
WOW!! 5/5
I can see an image of a person looking down
dont know if that is relavent
It’s nice, but I do not see impressibility
This is featured everywhere, but I really don’t like where degree symbol is in relation to the one. I know it’s an abstract person, but it looks like a stretch to me.
agree with alex, the stick person looks to forced
I feel sorry for the guy who had to pay for this. It’s the number “1″ in helvetica rounded and a circle above it. Hardly a groundbreaking design.
awesomely done! simple clean and kool
So simple yet perfect!
very predictable, but nice
this is a great example of concept based execution. I love the figure of a person with the one and degree. It is great to see creative conceptual work being produced.
I thought it was some kind of diving (sky, water) logo because it looks like a person standing sideways getting ready to jump. That being said, I think that the explanation for the logo is better than the logo itself.
1. negative space creates the whole person.
2. person + number + degree simple = all in one logo is incredible design thinking
3. From experience, if 4 people are credited, they probably worked on the project, or on the brainstorm, or on the development etc – props to the company for crediting their team
4. so simple, like fed ex, that even if you dont see the hidden idea, you still get its most basic intention.
- think about the audience – they probably aint designers
6. wish i’d done it!
I really like it. Very simple and will work great when it comes to the branding.
Im sorry i didn’t like this one, but hey design is very subjective we all know that!
Very nice i personally think, guess everyone has their own ideas on what works.
