Logo Of The Day Award Winner:

2009-03-28 | Youth Forum

“This logo is made for Youth Forum, under the name “Forum of the future”. This forum will be held once or twice a year where the top notch people (including prince & princesses) will be hearing the problems of youth and then following it up to solve them.

Basically as per symbol: it is consists of speech balloons coming from four sides (problems or opinion from all sides). different colors : Different problems/opinions. Making shape and the focus is in the middle : means solution (not just useless discussion but with a shape.”

I like the fact that the speech bubbles overlap, which is kind of what a forum, or discussion would do. Lots of speaking and conversation.

*I read the explaination and it kind of mirrored my own, so a job well done!

Very nice shapes and colours together. The symbolism works well. I’m wondering if there was a custom black/mono version created, would be interesting to see.

Mar 28, 2009 at 12:17 am

mmmh – I’m sorry, but i dont like this one.

The speech bubbles are overdone, it borders on a copy of the famous rip of the simplebits logo as described here https://www.flickr.com/photos/simplebitsdan/429265591/ and the message is a little too simplistic.

I dont see princes and princesses in it, nor anything top-notch.

To me it looks like someone had too much to eat and couldn’t keep it in.

nahh.. sorry not too content with this logo… its a very good idea but i think the execution wasnt good

Kristin Andrews
Mar 28, 2009 at 12:24 am

I think it looks sharp and conveys a sense of community.

@aslam I’m curious how you would execute it?

Mar 28, 2009 at 12:24 am

to add a small question… why do the red and green never meet in the discussion, nor do the yellow and blue ? …

I got to say though, i think the B and W inverted version has something really nice to it ( see it here : https://www.agencyzebra.com/junk/forum-logo.jpg )

Mar 28, 2009 at 12:42 am

Opinions from all sides with some common opinions can be seen as overlapping.Isn’t it? This is my view.
The Logo is Fantastic & Meaningful.

@kristin well tht was my view, it didnt pleased me aesthetically, however i will try and come up wid something for my personal collection and will show it to u

Mar 28, 2009 at 1:26 am

Good Concept, so so execution.

Overlaping bubbles are A-OK but I don’t understand why the colors don’t mix more. The red and yellow bubbles mix just fine in an orange but it like they just taught : “well you know, that was a lot of trouble, lets not do it for the others”

Could have been a lot better with more effort but it’s still solid.

I think the different colours speech baloons overlapping and forming one object convey the fact that it is a forum where everyone with different views is participating – for a common purpose.

Mar 28, 2009 at 2:17 am

Nice work and very good concept. But I wonder about the primary colors and “top notch” young people – might be a bit elementary for princes and princesses

Gina G
Mar 28, 2009 at 3:12 am

I like the concept. Not thrilled with the colors. It makes me think of a cable company. Partly because of the primary color usage and partly because of this ad campaign i’ve been inundated with for the last few years — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yz_-kZvDqO0

Very cool concept… perfect for what it is being used for!

Thank you guys… for the feedback in from of comments… I never knew my logo will pass even Jacob’s Judgment… but ‘m very happy that he passed it & for those who have commented upon. It is really helping me a lot and please let me say thanks to every individual…

Paul Randall: thanks… and happy to present what you might have made…

Mark Tyson: thanks… actually mono version is not made yet but I dont see any problem making it… & yes it will look as fresh as the colored one…

Aslam A Memon: Shukriyay Payee Jaan (Eng: thanks bro) atleast you liked the 50% of my work which is idea… Hope to know what part of execution you didnt liked… so that I can improve…

Kristin Andrews: Thanks… & I’m curious also about aslam… but I believe he have something better in his mind…

DChuck: thanks for very valued comment… you might be right… but from my side I’ve given this logo enough time and even the colors are not transparent, they are solid, and what you are seeing is the outcome of trying all the options that I could make… and this is what I found matching… its like a middle color for both overlapping colors…

Madhavi Sani: Thanks and yes this is exactly I mean through this logo.

ESchultz: Thanks… you are quite right about the top notch(s)… but I tried to brake the routine, cause there are already plenty of those classic colored logos in here… and I personally think as designers it is our job to upgrade the society through introducing new trends… any how I’m trying…

SuperDave4eva: thanks buddy…

Lambros: Thanks… and I have my fingers crossed… even thou this direction is very out-of-the-box and I’ve been hearing red-alert call already…

Thank you Jacob… for providing such a beautiful / resourceful website.

We think its a very good idea for a forum…and especially the colour theme symbolises youth which is quite appropriate as well as the merging of different opinions shown by the blending of colours…love your work Sajjad M. ;) ..keep up the gud work….

This is great! I love the use of colours to illustrate the diversity of opinions and speech. The use of white outline really reiterates the idea of unity and coming together to solve a problem.
Love it. Well done.

Max: Thanks for seeing the half glass empty… let me divert you toward the half glass full…

1). first of all I followed the link on flicker that you sent and I dont see anything common in that logo and in mine…

2). This logo is for the common youth generation who will be given chance to speak-up, so this got nothing to do with princesses, they will be only there to answer and to solve… so basically the hero is youth forum… not princess…

3). No need to say sorry – you are free to comment…

(answers for your next post)

4). You are absolutely right… that Red Green never meet so does the yellow and blue… I believe you know the difference of opinion… so thats why they dont meet but he point is they are still said and are on the table for one common solution… I hope you got the picture…

5). This black and white version is very draft… for sure B&W version have to be made properly instead of just turning the image in grayscale and then invert….

Thank you for the comments…

Nusrat Bano: Thank you Chuchee… Good to hear from you, atleast this logo brought us together once again… actually I think my logo have already started working as I’m seeing people and family from all around (four directions) are posting comments… well this is the only solo purpose of this logo… good to see it effective…

Sajjad Haider Syed
Mar 29, 2009 at 10:45 pm

Nusrat Bano: Thanks for seeing in detail, logically the white stroke brings it all in one shape – unites it, and practically because of this white stroke you can use this logo on any color even the logo colors and still it will show up… so its like a safe zone…

You have such a keen – observing eye, You should be working in some creative field…

Thanks for your good answer

I suppose i am distracted by the colorss, I like the shape of the logo in black and white – It’s always a good way to appreciate a logo to see what it looks like without the colors.

Anyway, keep up the good work.

Chat bubbles overlapping BRILLIANT!!!!!!!! Not really but for the sake of this site I guess it is. LOL I’m sorry but this logo (mark) does NOT express to me at least the meaning of the company it is for. COME ON NOW!!!!!!!!!

Apr 8, 2009 at 11:21 pm

Thanks for the comments, but I think you didnt read the brief. It is not for a company, instead it is for a forum named “Youth Forum” so I hope now your point of view will have the right direction…

You are not jerk but I agree that you are the only one who thought this way… COMPANY…!?{}!!!

Tom OKeefe
Apr 8, 2009 at 11:59 pm

“….this logo (mark) does NOT express to me at least the meaning of the company it is for. ”

I should not of used the word “company”

This logo “chat bubbles that overlap” to ME doesn’t express “youth” and or “solutions” Yes it is clear that chat bubbles is a generic way to show “chat” and or “forum”.

When I look at a logo for the most part (not all) It should be able to tell me something. You had to explain what the overlapping of the bubbles mean. I agree sometimes you need to give a detail explanation of certain design decisions but it should be able to express some of that within the logo or mark without having to tell people. I know some may agree with me and some will not. When it all comes does to it…it’s an opinion.

Maybe i’m being harsh when i commented. Sorry!

Sajjad Haider Syed
Apr 9, 2009 at 12:39 am

First of all you are not harsh, and this is one of the reason why we have these logo showcase sites as well as the ability to comment… so you are always welcomed…

Second: let me describe the logo, even thou if you read the comments of several designers here, they have already found the description, but let me elaborate it in words. The symbol “Speech Bubble” represents saying… than we see this bubble from four sides: meaning opinions from all sides. then some are overlapped some simply dont (the facing ones – Blue vs Yellow & Red vs Green) the overlapping shows agreeing and facing each other shows difference of opinion (where they simply dont agree) and over all this all makes up shape, the white strokes combines unites them and puts them in one place… so this is all (Basically)

Hope now you understand…. and one more thing – its not the overlapping that represents youth, its the colors which are so live, and fresh and web 2 kind… so this is what represents youth…

Tom OKeefe
Apr 9, 2009 at 12:48 am

Thanks for your response. Don’t get me wrong after you explain the illustration I can get the overall concept. It’s when you have to explain it when normally you will NEVER have that option when the logo is being used.

I should of noted that I do however really like the colors used.

I am administering the University of the Philippines online community. It is the No. 1 University in the Philippines and the audience is the youth but not limited to that. We have also a big traffic share from our alumni who are indulging with the discussions. We are just a small non-profit team of students that is why I’m not really into buying the ownership of your logo. If you want, we can give you an ad space in our website as our simple way of appreciation of our artwork. I hope you would consider my request. Thank you so much! You’re the MAN!
