2010-06-16 | Sabotage Capoeira

Logo for capoeira club. Competitor’s logos like logos of any other arts clubs of this kind, consist of silhouettes of fighters and/or common typical equipment. To stand out against this background, a typographic logo was created to express the idea of inconstant and unsaid capoeira through the shape of the letters. This adds some kind of mystery in the logo.

I really like the lettering in “sabotage”. My eyes jumped from letter to letter as they do when I watch a capoeira performance. Nicely done, it’s clearly different from the competition (like you said, fighters and dancers). The “campoeira” portion feels a little disconnected, but I don’t really have a good solution for it either. Very nice work!

Leaves me a little cold. Understand the desire to be different and I like the abstract shapes cast by the letters and their relationship with each other but feel there is no connection between the two words – lacks definition. You certainly look at it though which is part of the challenge achieved.

eh, been there, done that. I’m not a big fan of broken up text like this. Only in rare cases with bolder fonts.

Nice typography.
I agree with Chris, the relevance to the club and sport seems vague, I don’t see the connection of the ‘inconstant and unsaid capoeira through the shape of the letters’.
