Steamy Boots is a brand new online snowsports community. It’s a very focused utilisation of social media. It will be a place for service providers, chalets, hotels and entertainment venues to promote their services to the niche audience of skiers and snowboarders. This was a top-to-bottom branding project. The name and designs had to appeal to skiers and snowboarders alike, two completely different markets that notoriously don’t mix. As this was social media we wanted it to be very relaxed. After a hard day on the slopes the boots come off and the social side begins. ‘Steamy Boots’ is a direct observation of what happens when the boots come off! See in use.

The lettering isn’t bad… too bad the smokey effect undoes anything that might be good about the logo.
Honestly I don’t like this one, too blurry.
Seems to be missing something. Doesn’t pop at all.
It’s a nop…this logo cant grab any attention at all, it’s like an old logo that faded off somewhere.
not your best pick and probably one of the worst..
Awful, blurry rubbish. Could make a good background layer to put a real logo on top of.
I have to admit it’s one of the poorest logo designs I’ve seen here.
The only good point is the typeface. The logo could look better if the typeface was a darker blue and actually stood out.
@Lee Peterson, what the heck do you mean by “Doesn’t pop at all.” That kind of description is almost as poor as the logo itself, it could mean anything to a designer.
The font is great and it could be more interesting with other effect, but it’s too blurry. I see clouds/smoke, not snow.
Jacob, seriously?
Quite surprising feedback, for me anyway. I personally thought it was an innovative solution that suited the brand and positioning quite well. It works great in the context of the web layout though it does have more contrast when in blue. I always find it interesting to read people’s comments + ratings so keep em coming. Thank you all.
Thanks for choosing this design Jacob and thanks for your comment. In my opinion it’s obviously a good choice!!
This was an exercise in brand identity. It’s certainly not a logo in the traditional logo sense.
Other comments we’ve received have been from people saying they see steam, powdery snow, clouds, mountain peaks, blue sky, cold breath and when in the other colour version it looks as if the design has been sprayed onto a snow course with blue paint (as they do!) …all positive connotations relating to the market sector it’s designed for.
Happiness is like a cloud, if you stare at it long enough, it evaporates.
For a logo, this is way too blur.
