It’s a good idea. can be read as S or 5, but I suppose that’s no problem, maybe a plus.. The only slight issue I have with it is it puts me in mind of another logo with reaching hands. It’s a charity I think but I can’t remember – anyone remember the one I mean? The hands are stylistically really similar and so it looks a but like a collaboration of the companies.
There are t-shirts and other items with the reaching hands.
Not sure what the significance is with the hands for this Starbucks logo? Am I missing something? I think the “5″ is cool (I didn’t notice it until I read the comments here) but I don’t get the hands…..

And there’s another logo – it’s very colourful, like a rainbow of reaching hands… I’m sure it’s a charity logo, but I can’t find it. And yeah, the hands – what do they mean in this context?
For me, it looks like the hands are hugging the coffee cup. Like it’s meant to symbolize that Turkey loves coffee. But that’s just my interpretation. Either way, I think it’s great execution of a great concept.

It’s pretty good. I’m not in love with it, but it’s pretty cool.

I just love it, creative, fresh, cool, nice, and simple.
great job !
lovely logo, the idea is great, somehow the hands seems “too small or skinny” compared to the proportion of the cup, I’d make them even more evident. It’s a great clean concept overall.
I dig this. I like that the negative space makes the cup look like a “5″. Even the cup itself has become an icon of trendy coffee houses and Starbucks is certainly toward the top of that list.
That is so creative – I love it!
Very creative. Took me a while to realise that the cup was a 5. Great stuff!
Cool! Fresh!
love di unite concept…

Very clever! Really like The concept, well done!
Jim – I had the same thought as you with the hands. It was the Diligo project that was featured the other day: http://dd.ourvfs.com/dd15simon/wordpress/
