Agree with most everyone. Many designers use negative space for visual construction only, this one is for meaning as well. Best demonstration of the power of logo.

Andy have a point…

one more thing that I can see in the shape, I see smiling joker… I dont know if anyone else saw it also… the bottom bended part is like a smile on the face of joker…

I think the idea of the negative space works well. There is something kind of dark about the design though but none the less a clever concept.
