do you really need to have scissors? What if you made the dotted line thread a line to represent a needle. To me the scissors make it distracting.

the scissors should be bigger. Significantly bigger. More importantly, the top half of the scissors should be hidden underneath the cut. After all, how is it possible to cut through fabric without having part of the scissors behind the other side of the fabric? Having the scissors exposed at the bottom rather than the top will and a nice visual counter to the active top half of the logo.

I would also assume that, if the logo is supposed to communicate fabric in the process of being cut (as opposed to an already cut piece of fabric), the cut line would end at the pivot of the scissors. Otherwise, how is it possible for the scissors to cut ahead of itself? I believe that showing a cut in process is much more dynamic that having a completed cut. It implies action, that something is happening right now that you may not want to miss.

There is really no argument about the scissors looking like clipart. A bold, simple and iconic scissors graphic is a natural pairing with iconic and timeless Helvetica that is used in the logo. Anything too stylized would be out of place. And like James said, any graphic representation of a pair of scissors (or any object, really) is likely to have some resemblance to clipart. That doesn’t mean that it is automatically bad.

This logo has the potential to be stellar… but it isn’t there yet.

if the bottom half of the scissors is hidden, it means that they are in the process of cutting, so the line should continue after to indicate that they are not done.

If the line ends at the scissors, they are done cutting and the bottom part of the paper fell off, reveiling the bottom part of the scissors.

basic physics really.

as few fellows have already noticed – Scissors -

- first of all it is very cliparty kind of…
- secondly it is smaller in size
- thirdly it should be half cut as well, not placed over the line like this
- fourth line should stop until the scissor, it should not continue after scissor…

this all for now…

My only concern/issue is the bottom portion of the C, as I am disturbed by the lower half peeping up over the cut line. My suggestion: raise the cut line and cut it off completely, or expose more of the letter forms.

Great concept, I like how the cut line was made and how the bottom part is missing.

come to think of it, if the bottom part of the scisors is hidden, it means the material is still attached, meaning there should still be the bottom part. All in all, the bottom part of the scisors needed to be present to show that the cut is finished. Problem is, the cut line continues, indicating that there is still some more to cut through… Ow my head…

Needs a little more work, but there is something there!
