At the very least, a successful logo should be relevant to the character of the organization (or the character they wish to convey) and the people that they service. The color and shapes in the logo do play off of the latin-sounding name, and it has a classical, distinguished feel. I think this works reasonably well. Sometimes, trying to cram too much meaning into a logo is a recipe for failure. Not every logo needs to be a direct representation of what an organization does.
