“Paul Rand’s 1965 redesign of the trademark for the American Broadcasting Company reduced the information to its simple essence while achieving a memorable and unique image. The continuing legacy of the Bauhaus and Herbert Bayer’s universal alphabet informs this trademark, in which each letterform is reduced to its most elemental configuration.” Source: Logo Orange

This is a classic, as it still stands and people know what it is. It is also a great acronym.
Paul Rand…and all is clear;)
another great logo that uses Bauhaus typeface is Mead, was just look at it yesterday, so nice.
one of the logos that is mainly good, because it is established and everyone knows what it stands for.
sure, it looks good, but its just a circle with abc in it…
this has been around for a long time for a reason!
classic logo … timeless mark.
The simplicity of it is why it’s good. It’s more than a “circle with a name in it.” And yes the equity of this mark holds it up well, but trust me, the initial feeling it gives off is incredible.
“A trademark, which is subject to an infinite number of uses, abuses, and variation, whether for competitive purposes or for reasons of “self-expression,” cannot survive unless it is designed with utmost simplicity and restraint… Simplicity implies not only an aesthetic ideal, but a meaningful idea, either of content or form, that can be easily recalled.”
-Paul Rand on his reasoning for the ABC logo
It’s simple, but unique, recognizable, and aesthetically pleasing.
I love simple logos with the immediacy that this one represents… it is, was, and will always be perfect.
Was looking for this one; knew I’d find it in the logo of the day list!
Effective, but not outstanding…all said – I’d keep it if I were them.
