I can see and agree with everything you mentioned trying to achieve with this logo; The 'A', blade and flames. In addition to that the two mirrored shapes look sort of like hands clashing against each other which also ties into the combat training. I agree with some of the comments that the icon is a little two strong for the text. Maybe if those "hand" shapes were a little thinner. But overall, right on! I really like this logo.
