Sorry people, but this isn't the original logo designed by Sir Peter Scott in 1961 (surely not so clever)!
This is the re-design made in 1986, with the typeface adopted in 2000. Still a good logo, but not after 50 years of life, just 23.

Nicely put... let us all aspire each time we touch pen to paper, hand to mouse, or fingers to keyboard. After all, when it comes to the use of new age design effects, I often refer back to something I once heard... "just because you can, doesn't mean you should"!

DChuck makes a good point. There are a lot of people here who think that the core principles of good logo design are irrelevant and outdated. Usually I find that gobs of color, transparency, gradients, drop shadows etc are attempts at disguising either a lack of concept or lack of talent.

This logo shows how much can be done with so little, and gives the rest of us a clarity of vision to aspire to.

I know I already commented but I wanted to add a little something.

for something that roughly has a couple of ink drops on it... it DOES look a LOT like a panda!!

why did this logo had to be featured?
I don't like the comany behind it! I've had trouble in the past after I made a donation and they didn't project a good image.
I can't give it a bad score just because of that... it's a nice logo.
But I hate this company with a passion.
(and they forced the world wrestling federation to change their name... snoby bastards)

Long before the World Wrestling Federation, came this timeless classic. I suppose us modern designers can only hope that our logos will endure like this one has!

I've always liked this logo. The panda has just a "right" amount of personality and the type is simple and friendly.
