I guess I don’t mind the concept too much, but I am having a big issue with the tension overall.

The concept is great! I can relate to David’s issue with the tension though. I think it has something to do with the sharp points on the ends of the center shape creating the plates in the negative space and the positioning of the fork and knife. Great concept nevertheless.
